How to Wrap a Gift Basket

Gift baskets are the perfect way to send someone a little bit of everything and to brighten their day. They can include anything from a few mugs and some cookies to a blanket and a few scented candles. To make your gift basket feel extra festive, consider adding a strand of battery operated twinkle lights to give it a magical look.

Choosing the right vessel is essential when making a gift basket, but so is arranging the gifts in an aesthetically pleasing way. Fill the base of your gift basket with plenty of crinkle paper to add volume and create a colorful base for your gifts. When it comes time to nestle in the goods, try to mix tall, small, large, skinny, round, and rectangular objects to give your gift a sense of variety. Once the contents are in place, give the basket a final touch by wrapping it with cellophane and tying a big ribbon bow to the handle.

To wrap a gift basket, first lay down a sheet of cling wrap or cellophane on a flat surface. Then, position the basket in the middle of the wrap, ensuring that it’s completely covered on all sides. Once you know how long of a piece of cellophane you need, cut it to size. If you’re using a basket that is of titanic proportions, you may need to use two sheets of cellophane instead of one.

Once you’ve positioned the basket, fold up both short sides of the wrap to meet at the top of the basket. Next, cinch the cellophane tightly around the basket, scrunching it up in the center to make a frilly firework fanfare at the top. Once the wrap is tucked in neatly, tape it down along the edges to prevent the wrap from shifting or coming loose.

When it’s time to finish the basket, grab a roll of pretty ribbon and tie a big bow on top. You can also tuck in a little gift tag or a spring of greenery to further enhance the presentation. And that’s it! Your gift basket is ready for delivery.
